Significance
An enantio- and diastereoselective anti-Mannich reaction of aldehydes with N-Cbz- and N-Boc-protected imines catalyzed by secondary amine 1 is reported. Since N-carbamoyl imines are rather unstable, a simple and convenient protocol for their in situ generation has been developed. This method proved to be successful for a variety of aliphatic aldehydes.
