Significance
Several routes to optically active diarylmethanols exist to date, including enzymatic and 1,2-addition of organoaryl compounds to aldehydes. There are only a few studies related to the copper hydride catalyzed reduction of diarylketones. This report provides enantiomerically enriched diarylmethanols in good yields and enantioselectivity.
