Significance
The reductive amination reaction is a widely used synthetic transformation. Herein, a new methodology for this reaction is described, using a highly chemoselective, nontoxic InCl3/Et3SiH/MeOH system. This method can be successfully applied to a variety of aliphatic and aromatic amines (or their salts), aldehydes and cyclic ketones, also those bearing important functional groups.
