Significance
Polymers that display a settable and erasable memory state have potential applications. Examples include imprinted networks and reformable casts. There are limited methods to create materials wherein the reversible cross-linking mechanism involves forming chemical bonds. This scheme is based on cross-linking reactions between 2,4,5-triarylimidazole radicals that are formed by oxidation.
