Significance
Copper nanoparticles on charcoal (Cu/C) were prepared by oxidation of an activated carbon with HNO3, followed by the treatment with CuI in EtOH. The three-component reaction of halides 1, terminal alkynes 2, and sodium azide was carried out with 1 mol% Cu of Cu/C in H2O to give the corresponding 1,2,3-triazole derivatives 3 in 69-91% yield (19 examples).
