Significance
2,4,6-Triphenylpyrylium fluorophores were covalently attached to the graphene walls of short single-wall carbon nanotubes (sSWCNTs) using carbene chemistry. Covalent functionalization was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and solution ¹H NMR spectroscopy. The SWCNTs were found to quench the fluorescence of the attached fluorophores.
