Significance
The authors report herein a new protocol for the synthesis of substituted primary aromatic amines by using a solution of ammonia in dioxane in the presence of a palladium catalyst. Using the biaryl phosphine ligands 1 and 2, a variety of aromatic and heteroaromatic chlorides or bromides are converted into the respective amines in good to excellent yields tolerating a range of functional groups.
