Significance
Many transition metal catalysts for the asymmetric reduction of various olefins have been reported. The authors cited a need to produce simple ligands for this important class of reactions. In this report the authors designed a simple synthesis of a TunePhos derivative and applied it to the asymmetric hydrogenation of β-keto esters.
