Significance
This publication describes a mild catalytic procedure for the preparation of various arylbenzyl, arylalkyl and dialkyl ketones from aldehydes and diazoalkanes based on the catalytic carbon insertion into a C-H bond. This protocol works well for functionalized as well as for sterically hindered substrates. A concise approach to the natural product achyrofuran was developed using this new method.
