Significance

A general atom-economic method for the hydrovinylation of alkynes with electron-deficient olefins is reported. Hereby, air- and moisture-stable, easy to handle (Ph₃P)₃Ru(CO)(HCl) was used as catalyst. Variously substituted 1,3-dienes were synthesized in moderate to high yields.
