Significance

A palladium-catalyzed, ligand-free, highly regio- and stereoselective Heck reaction of aryl boronic acids with allyl esters has been developed. In all cases, the formation of the E-isomer is highly preferred. Alkenyl boronic acid esters showed the lowest stereoselectivity.
