Significance
The authors report the catalytic enantioselective synthesis of cyclic α-alkyl amino acids using a chiral phase-transfer catalyst. Various cyclic amino acid derivatives having a tetrasubstituted α-carbon such as α-alkylprolines were obtained in good yields and excellent enantioselectivities via C,N-double alkylation.
