Significance
This report describes the most recent advance in catalytic branch-selective hydroformylation of alkenes. In addition to homoallylic alcohols that had been previously realized as substrates (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 7346), bishomoallylic alcohols were subjected to the same reaction conditions and provided δ-lactols in high regioselectivity.
