Significance
In this report, asymmetric transfer hydrogenation and dynamic kinetic resolution were combined to achieve a highly stereoselective synthesis of chiral syn-α-alkyl-β-hydroxy amides from a racemic mixture of α-alkyl-β-keto amides. Chiral trans-β-lactams could be obtained from those products.
