Significance

Polyrhacitides A and B were isolated from the Chinese ant species Polyrhachis lamellidens Smith in 2008. This species is used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and hepatitis. Extracts of the ants have been shown to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
