Significance

A one-pot catalytic synthesis of benzimidazoles 3 from ortho-arylenediamines 1 and alcohols 2 with Pt@TiO₂ nanoparticles is described. Thus, the reaction of 1 with 2 was carried out in the presence of Pt@TiO₂ under photoirradiation to give the corresponding products 3 in 82-99% yield. The Pt@TiO₂ nanoparticles were reused three times without any loss of catalytic activity.
