Significance

Cryptoacetalide and epi-cryptoacetalide were isolated from the root of Salvia miltiorrhiza, a common treatment for various diseases in Chinese medicine. They were isolated as an inseparable mixture of cryptoacetalide and epi-cryptoacetalide in a ratio of 3:1.
