Significance

This work discloses a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl chlorides and ­tosylates with hydrazine. The reaction is fast ­under moderately mild conditions with excellent chemo­selectivity and directly affords various aryl hydrazines. Furthermore, this methodology was used to prepare 1H-indazoles from 2-chloro­benzaldehydes.
