Significance

PEG₄₀₀-supported thiourea dioxide (PEG.TUD) and thiourea (PEG.TU) were prepared by the reaction of MeOPEG₄₀₀-OMs and thiourea dioxide or thiourea. PEG.TUD catalyzed the three-component coupling reaction of aldehydes 1, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds 2, and urea 3 or thiourea 4 under solvent-free conditions to give the corresponding products 5 or 6 in up to 98% yield (16 examples).
