Significance
This work discloses a protocol for the trifluoromethylation of aromatic and heteroaromatic iodides under mild reaction conditions in excellent yield. The trifluoromethyl group is transferred from readily available (S)-(trifluoromethyl)-diphenyl sulfonium salts, whereby elemental copper acts as the reducing agent.
