Significance
The authors report a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of benzazoles with azoles containing N, O, and S atoms. This efficient procedure is mediated by Cu(II), Ag(I), and acetate ions and can be carried out under air atmosphere. The bisheteroaryl compounds are obtained by a selective C-C bond formation at the C2 positions without the necessity of preactivation of every C-H bond.
