Significance

A new rhodium-catalyzed propargylic C-H activation of readily available terminal alkynes and their coupling with carboxylic acids to furnish branched allylic esters has been developed. This method tolerates a broad range of functional groups on both the alkyne and the carboxylic acid reaction partner.
