Significance

α-Cedrene, α-pipitzol, and sec-­cedrenol are members of the cedranoid family of natural sesquiterpenes. The synthetic strategy is inspired by the biosynthesis, where the complex scaffold is assembled by a cascade reaction triggered by sesquiterpene cyclase.
