Significance
The development of new chiral ligands for asymmetric catalysis remains a difficult yet important challenge in organic chemistry. This newly developed salen ligand was successfully applied to the asymmetric allylation and hetero-Diels-Alder cycloaddition with favorable results compared to other salen scaffolds.
