Significance
(+)-Brevisamide is a metabolite isolated by Wright and co-workers in 2008 from Karenia brevis. It has attracted the attention of numerous research groups due to its functionalized tetrahydropyran core with dienal sidechain and terminal amine subunit, resulting in several total syntheses. The enclosed synthesis focuses on the concept of atom economy.
