Activation of propargyl alcohol derivatives by [Fe(C5Me5)(CO)2]+ opens a new route to α,β-unsaturated acyl complexes [Fe(C5Me5)(CO)2{C(O)CH=CR1R2}], precursors of the corresponding (alkenyl)carbene complexes.
