Significance

The asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrones and enals has recently received attention as a short route to useful chiral building blocks. Using an oxo-bridged dinuclear Ti(IV) catalyst, a variety of nitrones provided chiral isoxazolidines of good to excellent enantiomeric excess upon reaction with acrolein.
