Cu-Catalyzed Addition of Boronic Acids to Azodicarboxylates

Significance

The described reaction offers an easy route from stable, available boronic acids to substituted arylhydrazines, which can be converted into different classes of compounds like amines, hydrazones, indoles etc. The process does not require the usual special precautions for organometallic chemistry and is operationally very simple.
