Significance
The Pauson-Khand (P-K) reaction has been well developed over the past 30 years, and generally requires the use of a toxic CO(g) atmosphere. The recent resurgence of catalytic decarbonylation has enabled the use of aldehydes as a safe carbonyl source for enantioselective P-K-type reactions. In the presence of [Rh(COD)Cl]2, (S)-BisbenzodioxanPhos, cinnamaldehyde and tert-amyl alcohol as solvent, a variety of enynes were enantioselectively converted into bicyclic enones with good yields and enantioselectivities.
