Significance

This is an interesting new method of the organocatalytic, enantioselective hydrosilylation of imines. The reducing agent, HSiCl3, is readily available and the synthetic protocol is very simple. Although this catalyst required some steps for its preparation, further improvements will probably allow to make it more straightforward. This practical method for the preparation of chiral secondary benzylic amines, which are useful intermediates for various branches of industry, should find broad applications.
