Significance

Regioselective chlorination of polyolefinic polyprenoids using NCS/polymer-supported selenenyl bromide is described. Reaction of polymer-supported selenyl bromide with polyolefinic polyprenoids 1 and N-chlorosuccinimide was performed in dichloromethane at room temperature to give the corresponding secondary allylic chlorides 2. This reaction was applied to the preparation of three bioactive terpenoids 3-5.
