Significance

(-)-Dictyostatin is a marine macro­lide that shows anti-cancer properties. Philips and O’Neil use the total synthesis of (-)-dictyostatin to illustrate the use of their (silyloxy)enyne cyclization protocol for the preparation of polyketide syn-anti stereotriads.
