Significance
Structurally rigid scaffolds that keep polymer chains from interacting with neighboring polymer chains are of interest to prevent the formation of non-emissive excimers. Both monomers were designed to prevent excimers, however monomer A incorporates bulky tert-butyl groups to further enhance this feature. Monomer A also incorporates a triaryl amine group that facilitates hole injection/transport and these integrated elements are attractive for the design of optimal polymer light-emitting devices (PLEDs).
