Significance
In the further development of the Mukiayama aldol reaction catalyzed by box and pybox ligands originally pioneered by Evans, led the authors to find an alternative ligand-metal system to optimize enantioselectivity and yields. The authors studied lanthanide pybox complexes and demonstrate high yields and selectivities using scandium and lutetium.
