Significance
Polymer-supported vinyltin reagents 2 and 3 were prepared from triorganotin iodide 1. The synthetic potential of 2 and 3 was examined for the palladium-catalyzed Stille cross-coupling reaction. The reactions of aryl halides (I or Br) and the polymeric tin reagents (2 or 3) were carried out with Pd(PPh3)4 in toluene to give the corresponding styrene derivatives (10 examples, 78-100% conversion). ICP-MS analyses performed on the coupling products exhibited very low amount of organotin residues.
