Significance

The enantioselective hydroarylation of unactivated C-C unsaturated bonds was reported with a system using Au(I) and a chiral ligand based on MeO-BIPHEP. A similar Pt(II)-mediated cyclization was previously reported by the sames authors, but the reaction of internal al­kenes with indoles was problematic (Org. Lett. 2006, 8, 3801-3804). The use of substituted allenes is now possible to yield synthetically equivalent products.
