Significance
A novel anodic fluorination system was developed. Phenylthioacetic acid was fluorinated under anodic oxidation conditions with KF in the presence of Amberlyst 15 Dry and 2,6-lutidine using a platinum electrode and an undivided cell reactor to give 1 in 72%. 2,6-Lutidine×HF salt should be generated in situ by mixing KF, Amberlyst, and lutidine, which worked as both a fluorinating reagent and a supporting electrolyte. Fluorinated heterocycle 2 and biaryl 3 were obtained under similar conditions in 68% and 93%, respectively.
