Significance

A novel method for the synthesis of trisubstituted furans via 1,2-migration of aryl/alkyl groups in allenyl ketones is introduced in this article. Mechanisms are proposed for both the π-philic Au(I)- and the oxophilic Lewis acid catalysts.
