Significance
A novel Ullmann-type N-arylation reaction of nitrogen-containing heterocycles is presented. The reaction tolerates functional groups such as nitro and keto functionalities and even primary amines. The N-arylation reaction takes place in good to excellent yields with both aryl and heteroaryl bromides and, although to a less extent, with aryl chlorides. N-Arylation could be performed with many different nitrogen-containing heterocycles, including the relatively sensitive 1,2,4-triazole.
