Kernaussagen
-
Main statements
-
US is a valuable addition to CT for the imaging-based diagnosis of bronchial carcinomas.
-
Sonomorphology of the primary tumor is uncharacteristic. US-guided biopsy is the method of choice for histological diagnosis of subpleural carcinomas.
-
With one or possibly more ultrasound-guided pleurocentesis operations and US-guided biopsy of pleural space-occupying lesions, a malignant pleural effusion can be verified with high diagnostic reliability.
-
Metastases in supraclavicular lymph nodes correspond to an N 3 stage in the case of bronchial carcinomas. Lymph node metastasis can be safely and reliably identified by US-guided biopsy.
-
Targeted sonography of the upper abdomen can clarify unclear CT findings of the liver.
