Significance

Metal-catalyzed C(sp³)-C(sp³) cross-coupling reactions represent an important process in modern organic chemistry. An efficient nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of alkyl iodides with alkyl zinc bromides is reported. The synthesis of more complex molecules is achieved in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities.
