Significance

The n-BuLi-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamination reaction is extended to systems that do not necessarily benefit from the Ingold-Thorpe effect. Intramolcular cyclization to piperidines with primary amines could be implemented with good yields. The new methodology was also applied in cascade hydroamination reactions that furnished fused and bridged bicyclic amine derivatives.
