Significance

The efficient asymmetric hydrogenation of aromatic α-keto esters is reported. The CeCl₃˙7H₂O is used as an effective additive to obtain the corresponding product with enantioselectivities among the best ones reported in literature for the hydrogenation of α-keto esters.
