CuCl-NHC-Catalyzed Carboxylation of Aryl- and Alkenylboronic Esters

Significance

This work is a valuable contribution to the rapidly growing chemistry of organoboron compounds. The reaction can be useful for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized carboxylic acid derivatives because of the good availability of various organoboronic esters. This reagent overcomes most of the difficulties which limit the application scope of the Rh catalyst previously reported for this reaction (K. Ukai, M. Aoki, J. Takaya, N. Iwasawa J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 8706).
