Pd-Catalyzed Borylation of Aryl Halides Using Pinacol Borane

Significance

This work presents a novel method for the direct borylation of aryl halides using pinacol borane as an inexpensive and atom-economical boron source. Aryl and heteroaryl iodides, bromides and chlorides, containing a variety of functional groups, are converted into the corresponding pinacol boronate esters in good to excellent yields.
