Significance

Cheap liquid enol ethers and acetates were successfully used as gaseous alkyne equivalents in formal cross-cyclotrimerizations. The corresponding reactions proceeded under mild conditions with perfect regioselectivities for both cycloadditions involving 1,6-diynes and two different monoynes.
