Von der Hand in den Mund – Das Potenzial von Gesten im Spracherwerb

Abstract

The function of gesture paving the way and affecting the acquisition of language and communication is evident. Building a robust vocabulary is a key task in early language development. At the same time, it serves as a basis for further language skills and successful communication. For word learning, iconic gesture in specific has been shown to have a beneficial effect. Certainly, this effect is of particular interest in light of intervention for children acquiring a first or second language with difficulty.

Die Funktion von Gesten als Wegbereiter für den Erwerb von Sprache und Kommunikation ist inzwischen evident. Im frühen Spracherwerb ist der Wortschatzaufbau Grundlage für die weitere Sprachentwicklung und erfolgreiche Kommunikation. Dabei zeigen insbesondere ikonische Gesten eine förderliche Wirkung und sind von speziellem Interesse bei Interventionen bei Kindern, denen der Einstieg in den Spracherwerb nur verzögert und mühsam gelingt.
