Significance
A detailed study on the scope and mechanism of intramolecular hydroalkoxylation/cyclization via Ln[N(TMS)2]3 is presented. Thus, it is shown for instance, that the turnover frequencies (N f ) depend on the ionic radius of the Ln³+ employed (N f (La) > N f (Nd) > N f (Sm) > N f (Y) > N f (Lu).
