Significance

Commercially available indium oxide (In2O3) nanoparticles were found to catalyze the C-S cross-coupling of aryl halides 1 with aryl and alkyl thiols 2. Thus, the reaction of 1 with 2 was carried out in the presence of In2O3 nanoparticles and KOH in DMSO to give the corresponding aryl sulfides 3 (25 examples, 5-97% yield).
