Significance
An iron(II)-catalyzed cross dehydrogenative coupling of electron-rich arenes with diarylmethanes is reported. This reaction involves both a benzylic sp³ C-H and aromatic sp² C-H functionalization. The reaction proceeds regioselectively if the ortho-position of the anisole or thioanisole is already occupied.
